Need some motivation?

Fellow Team Rubicon member in the 2016 Tough Mudder. 24hours of obstacles, mud, cold water, drop offs. He is definitely cooler than me.

Going to bed

Regardless of the outcome, I am going to bed. Tomorrow will begin like any other day, early morning school route.

#HurricaneMatthew update. We have recon teams in:

✔ Georgia
✔ Florida
✔ Virginia
✔ South Carolina

And we are monitoring North Carolina.

Ready for the call for deployment.
Ready for the call to serve again.
My grey shirt is neatly folded in my drawer, ready to head into a travel bag.
I can only hope I do not get the call, that means the disaster is not as bad.

Almost heaven, West Virginia ....

What did I do in West Virginia?

http://claycountyfreepress.com/veteran-led-disaster-response-organization-team-rubicon-joins-flood-relief-efforts-in-west-virginia/

Team Rubicon provided the form of relief to the flood victims that no one else can. Free cleanup.
In the week of my tour, I re-discovered purpose. For the longest time, I was made to feel useless, cruel, that I had done nothing worthwhile. Well, the higher beings have a strange method of leaving a trail of breadcrumbs. Beginning with a Friday of Grand Cross of Color, Sunday's message of sacrifice and a Monday's email for deployment. In the span of 3 days, I turned from useless parent -insurance agent to full-fledge volunteer in a disaster zone.
Over the next few gruelling hot days, Nicholas County, West Virginia was my home. The Nicholas County High School was my bedroom, showers on timer were in the boys locker, cafeteria trays held my simple meals, and John Denver woke me up every morning. As irritating as it may sound, John Denver's Country Roads is very fitting to the operation, off the highway are pure country roads made of stones. Not recommended for those who are weak in the stomach. Every day had a different objective and mission. Included in our morning anthem is Taylor Swift's Shake it Off, 4 hours later, the jingle is still ringing in my head. Now those 2 songs have a special meaning for Operation Country Roads, these songs mean great wingmen and wingwomen, lessons on management and operation mechanics, teamwork, humility and kindness. Also I came up with, "It is good to have God on our side."

My "adventures" with Team Rubicon is still getting catalogue mentally, they will be published when ready.
