Time to....

Months have past since taking the new position of "stay-home-parent-driver-cleaning crew-chef-Tim the Toolman wannabe". Keyword : MONTHS.

It has been beautiful months,
time to let me see my children grow,
time to watch the seasons change,
time to finally focus on the needs of a home,
time to use my power tools,
time to paint walls,
time to re-finish a wood floor by hand,
time with "puppies" the size of mini-horses,
time to find peace and
time to find bliss.

In short, time well spent. For everything else ... there is er.... LATER.

Forgetting to Thank

A few weeks ago a close friend was going through some difficult times, awkardly, I could not think of any consolations, or the right words to say, I could only hug. In the midst of the washing dishes, a silent prayer for strength. Strength, but not for myself. A prayer for someone else.

Weeks later, the waters have calmed.

Then I realized that I forgot to thank for a prayer answered.

How many times have that happened?

This time, thank you, big dude.

Just Some of the Old Antics

Over the weekend, I caught the latest installment from BBC America, Robin Hood. I have probably every movie and series of the Legends of Sherwood Forests, from Errol Flynn, Stewart Granger, Sean Connery, Jason Connery, Michael Praed, Kevin Costner, Cary Elwes and introducing the latest, Jonas Armstrong. All the versions have relayed the myth well, "return the dues to the poor."

As the Presidential election draws closer, I think the political scene lacks a Robin Hood. Think about it, George W. Bush entered the Presidential Race as an underdog, unknown to most except the son of a previous President. Almost like Robin Hood, known only as the Earl of Huntington. Both have shown to the people their modesty and humble hearts. President Bush with his carhartts and dirty boots, or when he stood shoulder to shoulder with a construction worker at Gound Zero after September 11th. Robin of Loxley took from the rich and gave to the poor, putting his people before himself. Taking on a life in the wilderness instead of his servant-filled luxurious manor.

*tapping fingers - still waiting for the new Robin Hood.
*Hillary Clinton is not Marian, even though she is maidy.

Happy ....

It is that time of the year when I get to embarrass a dear friend.

*clearing throat....

*straightening hat ....

"Happy birthday to Fred....
"Happy birthday to Fred....
"Happy birthday to FRRREEED....
"Happy birthday to Fredmeister."

*dogs howling here.

Hat Tip to you Fredmeister.
